Freezing Coral to Save It.

Back in 2004 Scientist were looking into the possibility of freezing Coral Embryos to save coral species around the globe. Today, freezing coral is back in the news as scientist in Denmark speculate that regulations on greenhouse gas will not be able to save our reefs.  However, this time the plan is different.  Instead of freezing the embryos, they will be using liquid nitrogen to freeze entire specimens. The hope is that in the future ocean temperatures will stabilize and the coral can be reintroduced. Read more in the BBC article called “Freezer plan Bid to Save coral

Liquid nitrogen has always fascinated me. I’m really curious to read the article and see more what the process would be like.
